IBPS RRB 2021 Preparation – Booklist Based on the Latest Exam Pattern
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection or IBPS is the leading organisation that conducts recruitment for all major Public Sector Banks, except the State Bank of India. Both, Officer and Clerical cadre examination for PSB recruitment are held by this organisation.
Regional Rural Banks in India are the Commercial Banks operating in various rural areas of the country that aim to comfort the people living in rural areas and provide them with all the necessary banking information and facilities. The official IBPS RRB 2021 notification was released on June 7, 2021, to appoint over 10,000 candidates at the following posts:
- Officer Scale I
- Officer Scale-II (Specialist Officers)
- General Banking Officer
- IT Officer
- Chartered Accountant
- Law Officer
- Treasury Manager
- Marketing Officer
- Agriculture Officer
- Officer Scale III
- Office Assistant (Multipurpose)
43 RRBs in India are participating in the 2021 Regional Rural exam recruitment and lakhs of candidates are expected to fill in the application form. Thus, the vacancies released are way less in comparison to the number of applicants, thereby increasing the competition.

Post-wise IBPS RRB Exam Pattern
The scheme of selection for the Office Assistant, Officer Scale I, II and III are slightly different from one another:
- Officer Scale I – Prelims, Mains and Interview
- Officer Scale II & III – Single Online Examination and Interview
- Office Assistant – Prelims and Mains Online Examination
Though the selection scheme is different, the subjects included in the syllabus for each of the above-mentioned posts are almost the same. These include:
- Reasoning Ability
- Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation
- Computer Knowledge
- Hindi/English Language
- General Awareness
- Profession Knowledge
One must note that the Professional Knowledge section is only included in the Specialist Officer category of Scale II Managers. Under this section, questions based on the applicant’s category of specialisation are asked in the paper.
The final merit list for the IBPS RRB Clerk (Office Assistant) post is released based on the marks scored in the Mains examination. For the Officer Scale-II and III, candidates are provisionally shortlisted as per the marks scored in the online examination and Interview, combined in the ratio of 80:20. The same goes for IBPS RRB PO (Officer Scale I), the final merit is released based on the marks obtained in the mains and interview phase combined together.
